The Fruits of Evolution

Jesus taught, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (16) Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? (17) Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. (18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit” (Matthew 7:15-18). Therefore, we should be able to examine the fruits of any given doctrine to establish the validity of the doctrine. The so-called “theory” of evolution is one such doctrine. It is a denial of at least five items that will ultimately demoralize and degrade the human race.

It Is A Denial of the Distinctive Character of Humanity.

Evolution brings man down to the par of animals. Through the so-called “chain of evolution” man is linked to the animals as being a higher life form. The evolutionist say that man is just like any other animal except that he has evolved further. However, the fruit of such philosophy is a degraded morality. When men begin to think that they are like animals, they begin acting like animals. Lasciviousness, cannibalism, and murder to name a few are the fruits of denying the distinctive character of humanity. If we are like animals, then why would it be wrong to procreate with anyone we so desire? If we are like animals, then why would it be wrong to eat the weaker of our own species like fish and animals do? If we are like animals, then why is it wrong to murder for the animals take the lives of their own kind. Maybe we ought to let the carcass of humanity lie in the brutal sun so that “other” animals can live and evolve. The fruit of evolution is seen everyday in our streets, in our cities, and in our land. It is seen in the ever increasing crimes of brutality and murder. A doctrine is known by its fruit.

It Is A Denial of the Sanctity of Life.

Evolution says that man is nothing more than evolved dirt. It views humanity as the product of an explosion. Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes viewed life from this perspective. He saw life “under the sun” (ie. only with the physical side of life in view — without a view of the spiritual side). The only conclusion that can be drawn from such a perspective is “vanity of vanities; all is vanity.” Physical life without the spiritual is void of any true meaning. The only hope is the grave to escape the pain and sorrow and anguish of this present world. However, you put God back into life and “the conclusion of the whole matter” is “fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole of man.” (The word “duty” is supplied by the translators. I believe that this takes from the true meaning. This tends to give motive to fear and obedience whereas the real meaning is to give purpose to life with a universal application to “the whole of mankind.) “Thus, the true meaning is given to life and the sanctity of life is returned. Evolution removes the sanctity of life and an un-satisfying purpose is given to life — materialism. Thus, a person’s greatest accomplishment in life whether gained honestly or criminally is found in what he has. A doctrine is known by its fruit.

It Is A Denial of Religion.

Evolution says religion is a product of man’s weaknesses, psychological inadequacy, and superstition. Since, in the evolutionist’s mind, man is the product of chance, the only explanation of religion is superstition (maybe better stated ‘stupid-stition’). However, their reasoning is absurd. Cats have never been observed jumping out of the way when a black person crosses their path. If man is a high species of animals, surely we could find a superstitious animal! However, man is “incurably religious.” Never has there been a culture where man was not religious. Surely, if this was superstition, someone somewhere would find a culture where man was not instinctively religious. The fact is atheism is abnormal and an attempt to escape one’s responsibility to God. A doctrine is known by its fruit.

It Is A Denial of the Bible.

Evolution denies not only the Genesis account of creation but the whole Bible. In Genesis 1, evolutionists change “days” into eons of time. They say that the word “day” is a figure of speech but they must go beyond that. They must also deny Exodus 20:11 where Moses wrote “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is...” And not only do they deny Moses’ writings, they must also deny what our Lord said in Matthew 19:4, “Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female.” Evolutionist say that man is a recent product of evolution and was not made at the beginning. Contrary to evolutionist’s thinking, our Lord believed Moses’ writing and we could even say He gave His “stamp of approval.” If we cannot believe God in Genesis 1; Exodus 20:11; 31:17; Psalm 8; 104; Matthew 19:4; Hebrews 4:4; 11:3; 2 Peter 3:5 and other such passages that speak of the creation, how can we say the Bible is reliable? Thus, the evolutionist must deny the Bible but as Paul said, “let God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4). A doctrine is known by its fruit.

It Is A Denial of God.

The ultimate end to evolution is a denial of God. The psalmist declared “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God” (Psalms 14:1). A denial of God is only for the foolish who attempt to escape responsibility. The foolish align themselves with foolish concepts and doctrines and one such doctrine is evolution. A doctrine is known by its fruit and evolution’s fruit is damnable heresy.
